Miss Iris is turning into quite the playful little pup! She really likes to be the center of attention. She loves to run and pounce around the yard, playing "chase" and napping in someones arms. She gives lots of kisses and is cuddles and is just the ultimate sweetheart!

Miss Iris is 5 weeks old and we are finally getting to see a little bit of who she is. I really wanted the puppies to sit here for a quick picture, but Iris was determined to explore. The second I would start to back up from her, she would run for my feet. (I try to keep yucky feet out of puppy pictures! Ha!) I'd let her walk for a minute and then move her back to take her picture. We did this about 4 or 5 times before she decided to she would just lay down. I think we may have had our first pouting incident! Ha! Ha! I snapped her photo and she happily let Kambrie scoop her up to be loved on and then acted like she couldn't hear me when I was talking to her. Ha! Ha! We got a good laugh out of her sass today!
We can see teeth breaking through the gums, which means food will be started in the next few days. We also intend to let them explore the puppy pool/hose this week. Pictures of the experience will follow soon! Miss Iris has officially spent half of her time with us and is half way to meeting her new family!
With ears open, she is now feeling secure enough to check out her surroundings. The past few days, she has really enjoyed teaching her litter mates how to play. She was the first one to start pouncing at other pups and trying to get them to play back. Now they are all eager to join her when she instigates a game! She has been deemed Kambrie's favorite. (Kambrie is my 5 year old.) So, she is already getting lots of extra love and cuddles. Which she gladly takes with a wagging tail. Next up will be teeth emerging, experimenting with toys, and interacting more and more with the people of the house. Look at those pretty blues! Eyes are all the way open and she is beginning to respond to our voices, so those little ears are starting to work too. She is a curious girl, eager to walk around and fearlessly explore when I move her from the whelping box to the floor to take her picture.
This week, Miss Iris got her first glimpse of the world and we are finally getting to see little bits of those baby blues that we all adore. She is steadily gaining weight and getting stronger all the time. Her "puppy scoot" is turning into a well developed crawl and she is making her way around the puppy pen with ease.
This week, we look forward to the eyes becoming completely unsealed and ears beginning to open. |
