8 weeks old and he is officially ready to charm his way into the hearts of his forever family! Look at that smile! He is so sweet, loving, and full of fun! He is sleeping through the night (with an early morning wake up) and is getting better every day with the potty training! He loves FOOD! We can't even walk passed the food bin without him letting us know that he could probably use a snack! Ha! Ha! He is so smart! We can't wait for his family to meet him, but it's going to be a hard goodbye. Last night we played with peanut butter flavored puppy bubbles! He was a little caught off guard at first, but quickly realized these taste yummy and followed the stream of bubbles to their landing spots and popped them open with his mouth! It was so cute watching him pounce from bubble to bubble!

Javier is certainly "all boy." He loves to be outside and lights up the second we start heading towards the door. He is always eager to explore the dirt, puddles, pools, and everything else he sets his eyes on. He is brave, athletic, and full of affection. He loves to wrestle around and assumes that if you are sitting on the floor, it is because you want to play with him! He is just fun, there is no other way to describe him! My oldest daughter has really fallen in love with him because when you snuggle up to him, he nuzzles himself back into you.
Crate training has been a breeze so far. No accidents and officially sleeping through the night. We have been using the buddy system at bedtime and tonight we'll graduate to solo sleeping. House training is off to a good start. He goes potty outside quickly when taken out. We're still working on getting him to notify us when he needs to go- we're getting better and better every day though. This little fur ball is growing by leaps and bounds. He has the longest, softest coat! It's hard to keep your hands off him, luckily, he doesn't mind all the love and attention! He is so sweet and playful. He loves to run, explore, eat! Meal time is definitely his favorite part of the day, and he lets no food go to waste! He has got life figured out: play hard, nap hard!
Oh Javy! He is becoming more and more playful with each passing day. He loves toys, baby talk, and being cuddled. He plays hard and then naps hard. We are constantly rotating the toys and he is always eager to check the new bunch out.
We can see teeth breaking through the gums, which means food will be started in the next few days. We also intend to let them explore the puppy pool/hose this week. Pictures of the experience will follow soon! Oh Javy! My girls tease him all the time that he is way too pretty to be a boy! I can certainly agree that he is one beautiful boy! It's hard to believe he is already four weeks old and in another 4 weeks, he'll be ready to meet his forever family!
It was such a big week for him! His ears opened all the way up, he learned to play with the litter mates, found his voice, was upgraded from the whelping box to the play pen, is now residing with the humans near the living room instead of having their own private bedroom, he had his first trip outside, and had a huge growth spurt!! Amazing, right? This week, we are looking forward to spotting little teeth, experimenting with toys, and interacting more and more with the humans in the house! No time for pictures today! His eyes are open, his ears are letting sounds in, and he was eager to check out the new surroundings! This week, we expect him to really start engaging and playing with the litter mates and the earliest personality characteristics should start to shine through!
Javier woke up this morning and, for the first time in his life, he was able to see his mama and litter mates all cuddled up beside him. They aren't completely open yet, but we can definitely see a glimpse of those baby blue eyes looking back at us. He is gaining weight daily and getting stronger all the time. His moving around the whelping box has progressed from a "scoot" to a crawl!
This week, we are looking forward to the eyes completel unsealing and for the ears to begin opening as well. Mister 5 is seven days old! This first week has been pretty uneventful, which is a great sign when talking puppies. He has spent all of his time alternating between eating and napping. He has already doubled his birth weight and is maintaining his status as "biggest pup in the litter."
Coming into week 2, we are looking forward eyes beginning to open. |
