We had a wild day in Oklahoma yesterday. 27 confirmed tornados, multiple touching down within 10 miles of our home. We were lucky to be missed! If the photos look a little dark, it's because it was a pretty dark day here!
However, we made the best of it when we could. The puppies were all unphased by the storms. We went out to play in the rain a few times, attempted to play fetch (There is room for improvement there! Ha! Ha!) and we have continued to work on the leash for a few minutes a day. We say goodbye to three puppies this week and the forth pup shortly after! We are excited for everyone to meet their new babies.

We have one sweet boy still waiting for his forever family to find him! Our family has started calling him Lucas, or Lukey! There is a lot of personality crammed into this little boy. He loves people, playing, games of chase, and exploring. He's crate trained, moving in the right direction with house training, and has started leash training! Highlights of the Week! We're down to five puppies in the house, with departure dates sprinkled throughout the next two weeks! Everyone who has gone home seems to be settling in beautifully!
The lone Toller is enjoying hanging out with her Portie cousins! Crating at night is a breeze! The puppies settle right into bed without a fuss and have very few accidents. Leash training was pretty comical today, but we'll keep working on it! Ha! Ha! House training is getting easier with less pups and we're making it out side way more than we are having accidents inside. This is a HUGE accomplishment with so many pups. Now that everyone has had 2-3 booster shots, we have started letting friends and family come hang out with them to help socialize! These pups ALL love people! They get so excited to play with new friends and have yet to meet someone they'd consider a stranger! Over the last few weeks, we have received a lot of questions about these cream cuties! So, I thought I would make a blog post about them! In the United States, Portuguese Water Dogs are typically seen with brown, black or white coats. However, there is another color variation most commonly seen in Europe... Cream! Stella and Teddy both came to us directly from Portugal, so it is not surprising and also incredibly exciting that we are able to bring this rare color variation to the United States!
When you're this cute, you don't need a reason to be treated!
We love warm spring days! The kids and puppies were all equally excited to break out the hose to cool off and play.
This may be my favorite memory from the spring 2024 litter! Stella's 13 is down to 6 with 4 puppies still waiting for their forever families to find! I can't believe tomorrow will be 10 weeks with these beauties.
It's been a wild 10 weeks... full of love, cuddles, chaos, cleaning, playing, trips outside, working on manners, socializing, vet visits, mastering crate training, working on house training, laundry, leash training, exploring, saying goodbyes, making deliveries, scheduling flights... It's been a LOT in the very best way! It's supposed to be in the 90's today! So we are looking forward to some water play this afternoon and a week full of more love and adventures with the precious little things! We have one sweet Toller baby left from Sadie's litter and we are all so obsessed with her. The kids and I have started calling her "Ducky." Why Ducky?
1. It seemed like a cute name for a Duck Tolling Retriever. 2. After the happy-go-lucky character from the Land Before Time movie! Ducky is doing great! This girl is so sweet, smart, loves to run and explore, and is super active and playful. These pictures make me laugh. I think they ALL look a little grumpy. Ha! Ha! They must have been feeling sympathy sadness for me over my camera breaking! No worries though, the camera has been fixed and I will work on getting some new pictures or videos over the next few days!
Our chubby little puppies are beginning to thin out and grow up instead of out. They are all so fun and active. Check out their blogs for videos of them on the run! :)
What a week!
We said goodbye to 9 puppies, everyone has been sleeping soundly through the night, and we had another successful vet visit. So far, we have puppies spanning all the way from Arizona to New York and Rhode Island (and several states in-between.) So fun! My camera broke this week, so I had to take pictures on my cell phone! Then my home blog wouldn't let me upload the pictures to it. I don't know what is going on, but I was able to get some pictures and videos up on all of the individual blog pages before my technology completely failed me! Check them out and I will circle back here tomorrow and see if we can add all of their pretty faces posted in one place! |
